News from Everist Court – October 2015

With Autumn creeping on why not join us for something in our new activity programme? Morning sessions run from 10.45am to 12pm (unless otherwise stated).

On Monday mornings choose from Cookery or our new Relaxation group, featuring aromatherapy, breathing techniques and meditation – all great ways to try to reduce your blood pressure!

It’s our ever-popular Art group or, for the more energetic, Chairobics, on Tuesday mornings.

On Wednesday mornings Line Dancing and Musical Bingo are on alternate weeks, and on the last Wednesday of the month you can Sing For Health. From September to December you can come and make your Christmas Cake.

Our new Book Group is on Thursday mornings – an opportunity to enjoy a good book with others. Read aloud, if you are feeling theatrical! And discuss the book with the rest of the group afterwards.

On the first Thursday morning of every month you can join in Communion.

On Friday mornings choose between Seated Exercise and a new Walking group – transport is provided to a location where an hour’s walk is undertaken, return by 12.30 for lunch.

In the afternoon (1.30 – 2.30pm) activities are varied daily and include bingo, musical bingo, scrabble, cards, Countdown or singing. Other activities are also available at all other times to suit those in attendance, these include: quizzes, group crosswords, wobbly knockers, musical bingo, cookery, scrabble & board games.

And why not stay for lunch? Delicious two-course lunches can be booked before 10.30am. Fluffy jacket potatoes are always available as an option to the set menu.

You then spend the day, taking advantage of the services you need and joining in those activities that appeal to you. You can meet and talk with old friends and make new ones, catching up on the gossip or discussing the news.   Lunch is included and consists of a fruit juice, main course and dessert and is followed by tea or coffee.

We serve very good freshly cooked meals which include fresh seasonal vegetables.  The menu changes daily and there is always an alternative available for vegetarians, vegans and others with specific dietary needs.

Following the afternoon activity, we deliver you back to your home.

We hold regular Client Forums, welcoming client’s suggestions or opinions on our services.  Our clients tell us that we are more stimulating than coffee and daytime TV!

News from Everist Court – January 2015

Happy New Year!

The Lyminge Clients’ Christmas Party in the Tayne Centre was great fun and enjoyed by everyone who attended.  Thank you to everyone who helped to make it possible.

Do you suffer from the Winter Blues or are you feeling a little lonely? When you come to our Centre, you could meet old friends or make new ones, talk to folk who understand where you are coming from, sing the old, and not so old, songs, enjoy games, quizzes and bingo, visit the chiropodist, have a massage or get your hair done.  Or, you could sign up to our Computer Course to help you use your laptop.  You could join us for a delicious lunch which consists of a fruit juice, main course and dessert followed by tea or coffee. The Menu changes daily and there is always an alternative available for specific dietary needs.  Our first rate Home Meals Delivery Service is available every day of every week and while this is an excellent service we would prefer to see you in the Centre so you can be with others and enjoy all we have to offer.

You could get help to resolve housing and benefit entitlement problems or go shopping on one of the regular trips to the supermarket.  These are the sort of things that help to fight depression as loneliness is a major contributory factor.  It can be lovely being alone sometimes to get  some peace and quiet but being lonely is a very different animal and we do all we can to fight against that.

If you know someone who needs us, for whatever reason, for however long, the sooner you contact us and let us start working our magic, the better!

Winter weather appeal – we are looking for local people who own 4 wheel drive vehicles and would be willing to give an hour or two of their time in the event of snow days.  Should the disruption be severe or last more than a couple of days we would contact you and see if you are able to help us reach those who need us, a member of staff would accompany you. Please contact us if you can help.

Could you help with Snow Clearing?  In the event of snow, please come to the Centre to join Staff and Volunteers in helping to clear snow this winter – we have plenty of shovels!

Do you have any unwanted presents?  Please consider donating them to be used in our raffles or sale in our Charity Shop. Thank you.

The Café and Charity Shop will open on Saturdays, weather permitting.

Dates for your Diary:

The Communion Service is at 11am on the 1st Thursday. Contact us if you need help with transport.

Our Fun Bingo nights are in the Hythe Centre on Stade Street – 7.30pm on the 1st Thursday.

Join us in Singing for Health in Lyminge on 4th Wednesday at 11am.

There will be another Quiz Night in Hythe in Wednesday 25th February

Call in for our new Activities leaflet which has a timetable of all our activities…

For more information about any of our activities or services please call 01303 269602 and ask for Matthew or Sue or why not just pop in and see us?
