What is the Good Citizen Award and why do it?

The Lyminge Parish Council Good Citizen Award is the Council’s equivalent of the Oscars or Grammy’s, but unlike those which celebrate people doing their jobs, our award is to honour those who have improved the life of individual people and the parish as a whole; making a valued contribution to the community spirit.

Nominations for the 10 Awards were received from the general public for people who have given their time and efforts without seeking praise or reward and the Parish Council feel they should have recognition for their great contributions.

Some of the reasons written in the nomination papers included:

  1. A very good neighbour……
  2. Helps in lots of societies……
  3. Works hard at fundraising……
  4. Leadership in developing and carrying out community projects……
  5. Always turns out when required and works exhaustively on behalf of the community……
  6. Always willingly help anyone……
  7. Communicates well with both the old and young……
  8. Has worked in fostering a splendid community spirit……
  9. Their enthusiasm brings out the best in others……
