Lyminge Bowls Club

There has been a bowls club in Lyminge since 1933. The club is owned and run by its members and the current membership is about 80 players, more or less equal numbers of men and women. Many members live in Lyminge and Etchinghill but they also come from further afield, including Hawkinge, Folkestone and Ashford. Our club has good facilities and is pleasantly sited in the heart of the Elham Valley.

We play lawn bowls from our home green in Woodland Road, by the village hall. During the season (April to September) we play club competitions, friendly matches against other clubs, Shepway League and County and National competitions. Bowlers can be as involved and competitive as they wish or simply come along to the twice-weekly club games.

As well as a busy schedule of matches in the summer months, the club also has many social events. Out-of-season events include short-mat bowls, bingo, quizzes, darts and lunches.

We welcome people to come and watch the games; hopefully they will like what they see and think of joining us. We are always pleased to accept new members, both experienced and beginners. We offer beginners a 6-week training course in May and June. Watch out for our advert in the Newsletter in April giving full details.
